Frequently Asked Questions

Below is the list of some frequently asked questions by parents and students:

1) When and where are your CCA trainings held?

Our school trainings are held on a weekly basis. Our normal trainings are on Fridays, whereas an optional training for Cadets to improve their physical fitness will be held on Tuesdays.

For our Sea-based trainings such as Kayaking and Dragonboating, they will be held at Sea training Centres such as Kallang Sea Training Centre or Upper Seletar Training Centre. Usually, these trainings will replace our Friday school trainings and Tuesday optional trainings.

2) Does my son have to be a qualified swimmer for him to join the CCA?

No, it is not compulsory for our Cadets to be qualified swimmers. During our Sea-based Actvities, Safety Life Vests will be provided for our Cadets. The safety of our Cadets is our utmost priority.

3) How is NCC Sea different from NCC Land?

NCC Sea provides Cadets with many opportunities to participate in various sea-based activites, which very few CCAs offer.

4) How often are sea-based trainings held?

Our sea-based trainings are more concentrated towards competitions. During competition periods, almost all of our Friday trainings will be replaced by sea-based trainings for us to hone our skills to prepare for upcoming competitions.

5) During examination periods, will CCA trainings continue?

As it is important for our cadets to maintain a healthy balance between CCA and Academics, the school implements CCA-StandDown periods nearing Semester Assessments to give Cadets sufficient time to study.

6) Will the training sessions be too demanding and tiring for my son to handle?

Training sessions are conducted in hope of improving the cadets’ physical and mental strength. Despite this, we will definitely take into consideration the cadets’ welfare and ensure that these sessions are not too strenuous for them to handle.
